AROYA Cruises restarts Red Sea sailings + signs Lufthansa City Center distribution.
Insight N°040
17 May 2026
AROYA Cruises, the Public Investment Fund-backed Saudi-flagged cruise line, restarted Red Sea sailings on 14 May 2026 on the Jeddah-Yanbu-Sharm el-Sheikh-Aqaba itinerary. AROYA simultaneously signed a global distribution partnership with Lufthansa City Center, the European travel agency network, extending the cruise’s European distribution reach materially.
Together the two announcements confirm AROYA is moving from soft launch to commercial scale.
What this signals about Cruise Saudi’s procurement
Cruise Saudi, the Public Investment Fund subsidiary that operates the wider Saudi cruise programme, is building a Saudi-flagged cruise business that did not exist at any meaningful scale before 2024. The procurement implications run wide. Shore excursion programming, in-cruise entertainment and content, F&B at cruise scale, retail and luxury cruise concept brands, port infrastructure at the call-points, marketing partnerships with European travel intermediaries, fleet expansion.
Where international luxury cruise and outbound travel firms fit
international luxury cruise operators (Ponant, Compagnie du Ponant alumni) have technical and brand depth in luxury cruise that complements AROYA’s positioning. The outbound travel agency ecosystem is one of the most sophisticated in Europe for sourcing luxury and adventure travel itineraries. Both international segments have procurement entry points into AROYA’s commercial buildout through 2026 and 2027.
