Alat, the Public Investment Fund’s electronics and advanced manufacturing platform, will begin production at a 2 billion US dollar Lenovo PC and server factory in the Riyadh Special Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ) in 2026. The 200,000 square metre facility represents one of the largest single Public Investment Fund manufacturing commitments outside the mobility stack.

Alat’s strategic posture changed in early 2026. The Lenovo factory commitment remains active, but Alat publicly dropped its independent semiconductor design ambitions in April 2026, narrowing the platform’s focus to assembly, integration, and value-added manufacturing.

Why the PC and server factory matters as a procurement signal

Saudi Arabia’s enterprise and government IT modernisation programme will absorb several years of PC and server demand at scale. Localising the assembly through Alat-Lenovo gives Saudi procurement a domestic supply option that meets growing local content requirements in public procurement. For foreign component, electronics, automation, and managed services firms, the factory build and ongoing operations create a multi-year procurement window.

Where international firms have credible positions in the factory stack

Schneider Electric for industrial electrical and automation. Legrand for the lower-voltage infrastructure. Atos and Sopra Steria for the managed services and IT integration layer. Smaller international firms in industrial robotics, automated assembly, and electronics test for the production line build. The procurement window for the factory build phase is open through 2026 and the operations procurement window opens from 2027.
